Tempting the
Inner Beaver: A Working Stream Model... pp. 10-12

The Kingfisher Centre in British Columbia helps schoolchildren
discover their "inner beaver" - and learn about local
streams and land use practices - by asking them to create a model
village by a stream. The catch? They must manipulate the stream
system with dams and diversions to ensure that their
"village" doesn't become flooded by sudden overflows.
The idea has been expanded and used in EE centres and schools
throughout North America.
